Location: Southwestern Community College, Sylva
The Come to the Table Conferences have happened every other year for the past five years in the eastern, western, and central regions of the state. The purpose of the conference is to share strategies for ministries and non-profits seeking to support local agriculture and relieve hunger. Participants in our conferences include faith leaders, social service workers, activists, gardeners, farmers, and farmworkers. We have faith-based and secular speakers, and the day’s workshop content runs the spectrum from community garden how-to’s, to panels about projects that connect farmers to low-income consumers through innovative distributions systems, and models for gardeners and farmers to connect with emergency food relief centers. Take a look at the programs from last year’s conferences in Eastern NC, the Piedmont, and Western NC to get a better sense of the event.
