This site was the birthplace of the first African American Student Body Secretary of UNC-Chapel Hill. The homesite was burned to the ground by an arsonist, and the lot was threatened by erosion and trespassing for years. Now the lot is targeted to become a viable resource for fresh organic produce in the community, to include a small replica of the historic homesite to be used as a produce market. Despite the adversities, it is a garden of peace and aptly so named.
